What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a gentle, holistic healing practice that originated in Japan. It is based on the principle that a “universal life force” flows through all of us.

When this energy is low or blocked, it can lead to physical, emotional, or spiritual imbalances. During a Reiki session, a trained practitioner channels this energy to help promote relaxation, reduce stress, and facilitate healing. It is a non-invasive technique that can complement various medical treatments and enhance overall well-being.

What to Expect During Your Session?

During a Reiki session, you will be invited to lie down fully clothed in a relaxed and comfortable environment. The practitioner may lightly place their hands on or just above your body. You may feel a sensation of warmth, tingling, or profound relaxation as the energy flows. Each session is unique, and your experiences may vary. Some clients report feeling deeply relaxed, while others experience vivid emotions or memories. The session typically lasts around 60 minutes.

How to Prepare for Your Reiki Session?

To enhance your Reiki experience, come to your session with an open mind and heart. Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to relax fully. It’s advisable to avoid heavy meals or excessive caffeine beforehand, as this can distract from your experience. Arriving a few minutes early can help you settle in and bring a sense of calm before your session begins.

What to Look for After Your Reiki Session?

After your Reiki session, you might notice a sense of profound relaxation, increased clarity, and a shift in emotions. Some clients feel an immediate sense of relief, while others may experience subtle changes over the following days. It is common to feel a heightened awareness of your body and emotions. Remember to drink plenty of water to help your body integrate the healing. It's also helpful to take some time for reflection and journaling about your experience.
