September is Yoga Awareness Month

September is Yoga Awareness Month! And City Yoga Warren wants to share that this month is the perfect time to remember that yoga truly is for every body.

You do not have to be flexible, athletic, or experienced to practice yoga. You don’t need fancy clothes, a perfect pose, or even a full hour carved out of your day. Yoga can meet you exactly where you are—whether that is on a mat, in a chair, at your desk, in your living room, or even taking a few slow breaths in the car before heading home.

One of the best things about yoga is how adaptable and portable it is. Some days, yoga may look like a strong, energizing flow. Other days, it may be gentle stretching, resting in Child’s Pose, or simply sitting quietly and breathing. There is no one “right” way to practice. There is a yoga practice for every body, every ability, and every stage of life.

A regular yoga practice can offer so many benefits, including:

- Improved flexibility, strength, balance, and mobility

- Less stress and more calm

- Better sleep and improved focus

- Support for healthy breathing and posture

- A greater connection to your body and yourself

- A little more peace in your everyday life

To celebrate Yoga Awareness Month, here are 30 simple ways to bring more yoga into every day this September:

1. Take five slow, deep breaths before getting out of bed.

2. Try a new yoga class.

3. Stretch gently before starting your day.

4. Practice Child’s Pose for a few breaths.

5. Take a short walk and notice your breath.

6. Put your phone down for 10 minutes and simply be present.

7. Try a seated yoga practice.

8. Practice balancing on one foot while holding onto a chair.

9. Roll your shoulders back and relax your jaw.

10. Take three deep breaths before a meal.

11. Spend a few minutes in a favorite resting pose.

12. Try a gentle neck stretch.

13. Practice gratitude for one thing in your body today.

14. Invite a friend to join you for yoga.

15. Take a class that feels a little outside your usual routine.

16. Stretch your hands and wrists.

17. Practice a few minutes of quiet meditation.

18. Notice how your body feels without judgment.

19. Try legs-up-the-wall for a calming reset.

20. Take a yoga break during your workday.

21. Focus on breathing slowly and steadily for one minute.

22. Practice a gentle twist.

23. Wear comfortable clothes and move in a way that feels good.

24. Choose rest when your body asks for it.

25. Try a beginner-friendly class.

26. Practice yoga outside, if you can.

27. Let go of the idea that yoga has to look a certain way.

28. End your day with a few stretches before bed.

29. Give yourself credit for showing up—even for five minutes.

30. Share yoga with someone who may need a little encouragement.

This month, City Yoga Warren invites you to explore yoga in a way that feels supportive, welcoming, and doable for you. We have a class that is perfect for you! Start where you are, use what you have, and remember: yoga is not about being perfect. It is about feeling better, breathing deeper, and taking care of yourself—one moment at a time.

Happy September!
